Born, Lyman Kipp at Dobbs Ferry, NY 1929-2014. Studied at Pratt and Cranbrook in the 1950’s. He taught at Bennington College, VT, Pratt Institute, Dartmouth and Hunter College in NYC where he was Professor emeritus in 1985.
Kipps integrity of sculptural expression with his use of primary colors and shapes forms a complementary relationship in their purity and simplicity.
His career spans more than 70 years at critical junctures in the art of our times, in the development of the Primary Structure style in the mid 1960’s.
His work has been includedin exhibitions at Katonah Gallery, the Whitney, The Museum of Modern Art. Founding member of the ConStruct artists owned gallery in Chicago with shows in Paris, Berlin. In numerous collections in the United States and Europe.
